This was one of Jerry Andrus’ classic coin creations and was often performed during his formal close-up shows. It was even performed by Doug Henning on one of his Television Specials. 

The full routine starts as a card trick and quickly turns into a series of coin productions. You begin by shuffling the deck and having two cards selected. The cards are rubbed together, and a coin appears from between them. This is repeated with two more cards.

This is where it starts getting interesting. One of the selected cards are then torn in half and a third coin is produced from between the two halves. As a finale one of the half cards is torn in half and the coin slides out from between the pieces. Which is impossible since the coin is bigger than the quarter pieces of the torn card.

Everything is examinable and the cards and hands are continuously shown to be empty on both sides.

Please note that during the Doug Henning performance his hands go out of camera range, you are taught how to do the routine live without that being necessary.
